Her Majesty Queen Camilla is to visit Shrewsbury on Wednesday 27 March, calling in at the Farmers’ Market in the Square before visiting the Flaxmill.

Commenting on the news, Shrewsbury BID have said: "For security reasons we cannot go into detail about the visit, other than Her Majesty will arrive late morning and will leave town mid-afternoon. This may attract a lot of visitors who wish to see the Queen.

"We are aware that it is in the School Easter Holidays. We hope you will appreciate that security is paramount, and we have to take advice from the Police Counter Terrorism Team, so there are certain measures that we have to put in place and we would very much appreciate your help in this matter.

"Between 07.30 – 14.00 there will be no vehicle access to Wyle Cop, High Street, Milk Street, Princess Street, Market Street, Shoplatch and the Square. This will also mean that businesses in Pride Hill will be affected given restricted access to High Street. If you are expecting any deliveries or refuse collections, can you please make alternative arrangements, as vehicles will not be permitted into the area.

"We would also ask that you restrict any A-Boards on the footways to assist with crowd movement. The market stalls will be set up in the centre of The Square with the intention of keeping walkways free on either side to allow access to businesses.

"The area will be barriered off and we will work with local cafés/restaurants in the Square about the placing of tables and chairs outside premises until the visit has concluded. Town Rangers will visit your premises in the days leading up to the visit and on the morning of the event to liaise with you.

"Thank you so much for helping us to make this visit safe and enjoyable for all."
