A creative nine year old from Shrewsbury will see her doughnut design go on sale at one of the nations most popular bakeries next month after being announced as the winner of a design competition.

Thea Caddel Davidson wowed the judges at Planet Doughnut with her inventive Hungry Hippos design, which also captured the public's attention when the final shortlist was released on social media for a public vote.

Inspired by the classic board game, Thea’s doughnut featured blue raspberry flavoured icing, on a white chocolate cream filled doughnut, topped with M&M’s and four Bueno Happy Hippos.

Work to adapt the nine year old’s design is now underway at Planet Doughnut’s bakery on Knights Way to get it ready to go on sale at stores across the Midlands and the North West.

Profits from the sale of the doughnuts will be donated to The Little Rascals Foundation - a non-profit organisation providing help and services to children and their families with SEND needs.
