Who hasn’t seen ‘Shawshank Redemption’ or ‘Escape from Alcatraz’? Think you have what it takes to escape an actual prison? Now you can find out.

The Worlds first and only escape event from a real life working prison. Prison escape events are run and operated as challenges, the only challenge of its type anywhere in the World.

Upon arrival prisoners will be given an induction covering the prison layout and event rules. Prisoners will then change into their prison clothes and get locked in their cells, from here the challenge begins.

Prisoners have the day to attempt to escape, the first challenge will be getting out of your cell. If you managed this you will then have to navigate around the site, avoiding officers and any prisoners who might ‘grass you up’. You will need to use all of your cunning to decide which is the best route out of the prison site and timing will be the key to success. Go too early and you will get spotted, go too late and another prisoner may beat you to the finish. Remember there are no prizes for coming 2nd.

You will receive an information pack prior to the event containing vital information about the day and details about the officers on duty.  The first person to successfully escape and reach the designated area will win (although there is no guarantee anybody will escape).

Managing to escape and winning will require great intelligence, cunning and bravery. The prison pack you receive prior to the event gives you everything you need to know. Reading between the lines of this pack will provide various ways in which escape is possible, including escaping in a laundry van, bribing guards, teaming up with other inmates, tunnelling and more. But be warned: getting caught trying to escape will result in being ‘thrown in the hole’ or even a death sentence!

The event will have a maximum participation limit and will involve actors playing prison officers, governors and other prisoners. Can you make history by being the first person to escape ‘The Dana’ and make the officers' most wanted list?

What's On have teamed up with the organisers of Prison Escape to offer you a chance to win two tickets to take part in the event at The Dana Prison, Shrewsbury on Saturday 27th August.

Competition closes Friday 19th August.
