Fans of Jean Sibelius’ music are certainly in for a treat at Symphony Hall this month.
Not only is his Fourth Symphony included in the 8th October programme of Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine (see also on this page), his Fifth Symphony and a stunning tribute to him - Threnody, composed by William Grant Still - book-end this latest CBSO offering. Sandwiched between the works is Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No2, performed by Yeol Eum Son (pictured). Jonathon Heyward is the conductor.
