Discover the Legacy of the Birmingham Civic Society

Visitors to the new website can explore the extensive work the Society has undertaken over the last century, alongside its current and future initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting Birmingham’s rich heritage. The Society continues to focus on four main areas of work: Heritage, Planning, Citizenship, and Public Art, ensuring that the city’s vibrancy and history are celebrated while supporting its evolving needs.

Get Involved

The Birmingham Civic Society is committed to engaging citizens from all walks of life. The new website offers a user-friendly platform where visitors can learn more about the Society’s collaborations with various community groups and find out how to actively contribute to its initiatives. There is also information on how individuals can support the Society by becoming members.

New Membership Rates and Trustee Opportunities

As part of its efforts to widen participation, the Society has reduced its membership fees, encouraging individuals of all ages to join and be part of its mission to enrich the city. In addition, the Society is currently seeking new trustees and is particularly interested in filling the roles of honorary treasurer and secretary. These positions offer an exciting opportunity for people who are passionate about Birmingham’s future and wish to contribute their skills to the Society’s work.

Working in Partnership

The Society is keen to develop and extend its work with partners with similar objectives, and the new website was developed in partnership with Aidem Digital CIC, a creative digital agency dedicated to working with community-focused organisations. This has resulted in a website that not only highlights the Civic Society’s long history but also offers an engaging, accessible platform for all visitors. Birmingham Civic Society’s collaborative approach reflects the values of the Society, which aims to reach a broader audience and inspire more people to get involved in the work of the Civic Society.
