Doves have been revealed as the latest headline act set for this year’s Moseley Folk and Arts Festival.
The news comes as the band prepare for their first live dates in six years and the release of their much anticipated sixth studio album, Constellations For The Lonely.
Fronted by Andy and Jez Williams, Doves will headline the long-running festival on the Sunday, joining a line-up that includes the also just-added This Is The Kit and Muireann Bradley, plus previously announced Father John Misty, BC Camplight and Fisherman's Friends.
Formed in Manchester in 1998, Doves’ first two albums - Lost Souls (2000) and chart-topper The Last Broadcast (2002) - were both nominated for the Mercury Prize, with third album, Some Cities (2005), also hitting number one. Kingdom Of Rust followed in 2009.
Pieced together by Andy, Jez and Jimi Goodwin over a series of recording sessions in the four years since the release of their third UK Official Album Chart No.1, The Universal Want, Doves’ Constellations For The Lonely features the recent single Renegade, and is released on Friday 14 February 2025.
Led by Paris-based songwriter Kate Stables, This Is The Kit are no strangers to Moseley Folk and Arts Festival, having made acclaimed appearances in 2016 and 2018. Their most recent release is 2024’s Live At The Minack Theatre, which featured tracks from critically praised albums Careful of Your Keepers, Off Off On and Moonshine Freeze.
Muireann Bradley (pronounced ‘moor-un’) is a blues and folk guitarist and singer from Ballybofey in County Donegal, Ireland. Initially signed to cult label Tompkins Square when she was just 13, her debut album, 2023's I Kept These Old Blues, was universally lauded by critics and is set for a transatlantic re-issue in February via Verve/Decca.
Moseley Folk and Arts Festival runs from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 August 2025. Situated in a lush hidden park not far from Birmingham city centre, it’s been a regular fixture on the UK’s festival calendar since 2005, attracting an eclectic line-up of leading British folk artists, Americana stars, UK independent artists, international singer-songwriters, and more.
