Birmingham's Midlands Arts Centre is offering a wide range of activity taster sessions to nourish the mind, body and soul as part of the venue's Wellbeing Weekend next month.
Taking place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April, the initiative aims to get visitors to try something new with Tango, Salsa Reggaerobics & Calypspcise just some of the more energetic taster sessions on offer.
Those wanting a calmer experience should check out Yang Tai Chi - an ancient Chinese art combining movement, breath and concentration to improve your health and help you live longer, and Iyengar Yoga which is based on classical Hatha Yoga and emphasises precision and alignment in postures.
Find your voice with a singing for wellbeing session where no previous musical knowledge or singing experience is required or take part in a creative scent workshop with artist Amelia Hawk. Meanwhile, In Her Shoes workshop invites female visitors to partake in an event to talk about what is important to you as women. The event also offers an opportunity to create lyrics for a new song and share in work created by Syrian and Afghan participants.
Paid performances on offer over the weekend include Lemm Sissay: Let The Light In - a special performance and poetry reading with the acclaimed on Saturday 26 April at 7.30pm. An audience Q&A and book signing also feature. Tickets cost £28.75
For younger audiences, the renowned Rubbish Shakespeare Company and Silly History Boys will present an hour-long high-octane adventure for children and childish adults where clowning, storytelling and live music all feature. The Story Forge: Make Your Own Myth shows on Sunday 27 April with performances at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Tickets cost £9.75
