Built in 1827 by Thomas Telford as a top up for the Birmingham Canal system, The Edgbaston Reservoir is a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation. The seventy acres site is made up mainly of open water, supporting a variety of birdlife. A ring of wood and grassland circles the the reservoir providing a valuable city site for animals, such as newts and bats.
