Birmingham Hippodrome has announced a line-up of new productions on sale for 2025 and beyond.
From the writers of TV’s Horrible Histories, Gerard Foster and Richie Webb; No Such Things as Wolves (Sat 6 Dec 2025 – Sun 4 Jan 2026) will be the second production in Birmingham Hippodrome’s My First Musical series. Created for everyone aged 3 and over, No Such Thing as Wolves follows the story of Hettie Hedgehog, who is ready to hibernate – until her new friend, Sydney Squirrel, convinces her to throw a party instead. But when two mysterious guests arrive with great big ears and pointy teeth, things get paws-itively wild.
Following a record-breaking run in London, The Lightning Thief – The Percy Jackson Musical (Tuesday 24 - Saturday 28 February) comes to Birmingham in February 2026. Adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel; 16-year-old Percy Jackson’s life takes a dramatic turn when discovers that he is the half-blood son of the Greek God, Poseidon.
In March 2026, The National Theatre’s Olivier Award-winning smash hit Dear England (Tuesday 10 - Saturday 14 March) will tell the uplifting, at times heartbreaking, and ultimately inspiring story of Gareth Southgate’s revolutionary tenure as England manager.
Matthew Bourne’s production of the double Olivier award-winning smash hit, The Red Shoes (Tuesday 17 - Saturday 21 March) returns with its powerful tale of obsession, possession and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world.
Later that month the sassy and joyous Broadway and West End hit musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Monday 23 - Saturday 28 March 2026) will follow the hilarious and heart-warming journey as three friends travel across Australia in a dilapidated bus nicknamed Priscilla to put on the show of a lifetime.
In April 2026, Aaron Sorkin’s riveting stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird (Tuesday 14 - Saturday 18 April 2026), the seminal American novel about racial injustice and childhood innocence, takes to the Hippodrome stage.
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s smash hit production of Matilda The Musical (Wednesday 1 July – Sunday 2 Aug 2026), based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book will come to Birmingham Hippodrome in July 2026. This anarchic production, about a strong and determined heroine with a vivid imagination, has won over 100 global awards, including 24 for Best Musical.
Continuing the Hippodrome’s commitment to showcasing new works, the Patrick Studio will host a series of new musicals later this year. The Final Showdown (Friday 27 - Saturday 28 Jun 2025) looks ahead to 2075 where art forms have had to compete to stay alive, now only two remain; theatre and musical theatre who have to compete in the ultimate battle royale.
This August National Youth Music Theatre in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome will perform the UK premiere of Tuck Everlasting (Thursday 14 - Saturday 16 August 2025), which invites you to ponder life’s greatest questions and new musical Lighting Boy (Thursday 21 - Saturday 23 August 2025), which follows sixteen year old Zeus as he races against time to discover what kind of god – and man – he’s truly destined to be. Later that month, British Youth Music Theatre Theatre in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome, will present Choreomania (Friday 29 - Sunday 31 Aug 2025); a movement inspired musical exploration of the 1518 dancing plague.
In October, brand new musical, Black Power Desk (Wednesday 22 - Sat 25 October 2025) comes to the Patrick Studio. Set in 1970s London, amidst the covert Black Power Desk operations of New Scotland Yard, the musical is a powerful reimagining and exploration of what it means to love and fight for freedom.
