A Shrewsbury-based dance troupe responsible for bringing 1096 people together to dance the Charleston in the town's Quarry in 2018 are looking to get people to boogie on down with a similar event in May.
I Can Dance Shrewsbury will host a 70s Disco Workshop on Saturday 18 May to raise funds for Shropshire Mental Health Support, and are extending the invite to anyone wishing to learn a fun and uber funky disco routine.
Whether a disco diva or dance novice, organisers are hoping you'll rally friends and family to 'cut the rug' to a medley of disco classics. They're also urging people dress up so as to create a sea of 70s Boogie Wonderland.
Not only will the event be great fun, it will also help support the work of Shropshire Mental Health Charity (SMHS), and raise awareness of how movement, dance or any other exercise, can benefit mental wellbeing.
A £2 donation is sought to take part and a Just Giving page has been set up for those wishing to offer more. Fundraising buckets will also be available on the day.
It's hoped that the event will raise in excess of £3000 to help purchase a new wellbeing vehicle, so as more people across the county can access free mental health support.
