With half term right around the corner, we've put together our list of top picks for keeping the kids entertained across the spooky season...


Big Fish Little Fish Halloween Family Rave - The Buttermarket, Shrewsbury, 27 October

The world-famous, award-winning, Glastonbury Festival performing, family rave sensation Big Fish Little Fish returns to The Buttermarket for a Halloween special.

Don your ghostly garb and shake your bones to some absolutely stonking tuneage from DJ Raks! Party with your kids amidst the bubbles and snow foam, confetti and giant balloons. There will also be a creepily cool, multi-activity craft area and a baby chill out space for our tiniest ravers. Oh, and of course the licenced bar will be open.

Fancy dress is not the law, but is massively encouraged - kids and adults.

Museums Are Magic - Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, 31 October

Those visiting SM&AG this Halloween can enjoy a day of spooky activities. With fancy dress encourages, there will be magic shows, potion making, wand making, face painting, a falconry display, spell writing and more.

Craft Workshops - 26 October at Telford and Wrekin Interfaith Council, Wellington and 27 - 30 October at Telford Theatre, Oakengates

Telford & Wrekin Council in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council, funded by the Inclusive Communities Fund are providing free family art workshops this October half-term in Wellington and Oakengates.

Families and children over five can sign up to join a workshop where they will be guided by an artist through the process of making a willow stick lantern. Children must be accompanied by a helpful adult so they can make their lantern together. Once lanterns are made, we will be celebrating with a Telford Interfaith Festival of Light Lantern Parade on Friday 1 November at 5.30pm in Bowring Park Wellington, where all lanterns can be proudly displayed.

Halloween Experience - Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Cosford Airbase & Headquarters, Shropshire, 27 October

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is set to deliver a day of spooktacular fun with their Halloween Experience at its Cosford Airbase and Headquarters.

This family friendly event features a variety of Halloween themed activities designed to engage visitors of all ages. Children are encouraged to come in costume and will receive Halloween themed goody bags. Throughout the day, families can take part in a Trick-or-Treat Hunt, meet Maac the Pup, the charity’s mascot, and enjoy interactive games.

All proceeds from the event go towards funding Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s advanced pre-hospital emergency service, helping to save lives across the region.

Pumpkinfest - Park Hall Countryside Experience, Oswestry, Shropshire, 18 - 20, 25 October - Sun 3 November

Park Hall Country Experience is having a spooky takeover this month with the return of Pumpkinfest.

As well as providing youngsters with free pumpkins to carve in the farm’s huge pumpkin shed, the venue is also hosting numerous Halloween attractions (Pumpkin Alley, The Little Scare House and a spooky trail) and activities (Pass The Pumpkin and Mummy Wrap).

Also included in the price of a ticket are all the usual farm attractions, including barrel train and tractor rides, the planet room and science area.

October Half Term 2024: Cold War and Spies - Royal Air Force Museum Midlands, Cosford, 26 October - 3 November

This haf term, the RAF Museum Midlands invites visitors of all ages to embark on a thrilling spy adventure as part of the Cold War Spies Week.

Visitors can explore interactive spy-themed activities, designed to transport them into the covert world of Cold War espionage. Whether you’re solving a murder mystery, boarding a spy plane, or designing your own spy vehicle, there’s something for budding detectives of all ages to enjoy.

Halloween Horrors - Weston Park, nr Shifnal, 29 - 31 October

Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Weston’s Halloween Horrors this October Half Term for a day filled with spooktacular fun.

Watch as the four-acre Walled Garden transforms into a haunted hollow with the return of the popular pumpkin patch and so much more. Enjoy thrilling activities from Educating Kids Outdoors, be amazed by creepy critter shows from Zoolabs, and try to navigate the spooky maze.

Don’t miss the Spooky House, which will be decorated with spooky creations, created by students from Telford College, inspired by chilling tales and things that go bump in the night.

Pick your own pumpkin - Battlefield 1403, Shrewsbury, 25 October - 3 November

For the first time ever, Shrewsbury's Battlefield 1403 will have home grown pumpkins.

The Pumpkin Patch will be situated a short walk behind the Farm Shop, where you will be sure to find the perfect pumpkin. Entry is free, simply pay for the pumpkins that you pick.

The Tack Room will be open on the selected dates from 10am until 4pm daily, selling Halloween inspired food & drink, and over in the Wood Shed there will be children's crafts & activities and space to carve pumpkins.

Witchcraft Woods - Alderford Lake, Ellesmere, 26 - 31 October

Enter a realm of magic and wonder at Alderford Lake's Witchcraft Woods this half term.

Perfectly crafted for young witches and wizards under 10, children can dive into an hour of enchanting activities.

Upon arrival, a wand will be chosen, with the opportunity to let their imagination run wild in a magical crafting workshop led by resident witch and wizard, Winnie and Wilbur, learning the art of witchcraft and casting their own spells.
