The UK’s premier agricultural, countryside living and popular family event, the Royal Three Counties Show, is set to return to Three Counties Showground in Malvern from Friday 13 - Sunday 15 June, with a packed programme of family entertainment, leading voices from the worlds of food and farming, plus exciting new features and thousands of animals, making it ideal for a family day out or memorable Father’s Day celebration.
The Royal Three Counties Show is known as one of the largest annual agricultural celebrations in the UK, and features a staggering 8,000 animals across the long weekend. A highlight for many is the Grand Parade of Livestock, taking place daily in the Main Arena at 3.45pm, accompanied by commentary guiding visitors through each of the breeds on display, including expert insight from BBC Countryfile presenter and co-owner of Cotswold Farm Park, Adam Henson, who is a passionate advocate for rare and minority breed farm animals.
Over the three show days, nearly 900 livestock classes will take place in the Farming Village, and visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about a wide range of animals, including Angora, Pygmy, Dairy and Boer goats at the dedicated Goat Show area, and a new Pig Village, celebrating the British Pig Industry with engaging educational experiences, live displays and interactive breed showcases. Discover more about British wool and how this sustainable fibre is used across fashion, construction and interiors, and see highly skilled sheep shearers in action during fast-paced competitions and informative demonstrations.
The Royal Three Counties Show is ideal for families or those with a passion for animals, offering a range of opportunities to get up close to friendly animals, find out more about their care and admire their impressive skill and intelligence.
A new feature at this year’s show is an interactive learning and animal encounters area, provided by the award-winning Attwell Farm Park in Worcestershire. Visitors of all ages can get up close and hands on with friendly farmyard animals and learn more about their lives and care. At the Smallholders Area, visitors can meet Alpacas and learn more about their special fleece, which is naturally hypoallergenic, water-repellent and fire resistant. At the Countryside Area, Hawkeye Falconry will host spectacular flying displays of owls, hawks, eagles, and falcons, demonstrating their natural hunting prowess and aerial acrobatics.
Dog lovers won’t want to miss the Sheep Herding Demo, in which specially trained dogs display their herding skills with the help of some enthusiastic sheep and an experienced dog handler. There will also be Gundog Demonstrations, offering visitors an insight into how to train a puppy to become a competent and confident working dog. Visitors can even try a hand at fly fishing for coarse fish with expert guidance from knowledgeable anglers.
The Royal Three Counties Show is renowned for its leading equine events, held across six dedicated equine rings and the spacious main arena. Over 290 equine showing and show jumping classes are held at the show, with over 2,750 entries from the UK’s top competitors. The carriage driving and heavy horse (ridden and in harness) classes are particular highlights for visitors.
Each year the Royal Three Counties Show boasts a jam-packed programme of exciting entertainment, and this year promises to live up to expectations! The Main Arena will host the return of some show-favourites, including the Bolddog Lings freestyle motorcross stunt display show, performing jaw-dropping tricks 35ft high in the air, and this year will feature brand-new, never before seen stunts created especially for the Royal Three Counties Show. The British Army’s Parachute Display Team - the Red Devils - will make a spectacular return on Friday and Sunday, free-falling through the sky at speeds of 120mph with flags and coloured smoke.
Special guests and young farmers Kaleb Cooper (star of Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm and best-selling author) and Ally Hunter Blair (star of Discovery +’s series Born Mucky: Life on the Farm and Channel 4’s First Time Farmers) will provide commentary for the popular Machinery Demonstrations, which feature new and impressive tractors and farming machinery, in addition to sharing their knowledge and passion for agriculture at the Future of Farming Theatre.
Held across the Father’s Day weekend, the Royal Three Counties makes a great day out for families to enjoy. Under 16s are free of charge, and this year there are 101 free things to do at the show, including building sandcastles at the free children’s beach area, discover more about the fascinating lives and vitally important role of bees at the Bees & Honey Tent, admire heritage skills and craftsmanship such as farrier and blacksmith competitions, pack a picnic and enjoy the live music and entertainment from the bandstand, enjoy ride-on pedal tractors for kids and explore realistic toy machinery (kindly donated by Killbran), cheer on the young farmers in their Tug of War competition, get your hands dirty and dig for your dinner at the popular Potato Dig, and much more!
