The Shrewsbury Club will host a prestigious ITF World Tennis Tour event in October as world class tennis makes a welcome return to Shropshire.

The Budgen Motors W100 tournament will be the biggest event in women’s tennis, outside of the grass court season, to be held in the UK this year.

Set to feature leading British and international players, the tournament is to take place at the Sundorne Road venue’s indoor courts between 15-22 October.

Its return follows the huge success of last year’s $100,000 event, the highest-profile tournament played at The Shrewsbury Club.

Czech Republic ace Marketa Vondrusova won both the singles and doubles titles last November.

Ticket prices, which include a 40-page tournament programme, start from £7.50, with finals day tickets to enjoy both the singles and doubles finals on Sunday 22 October priced at £19.50. A tournament pass to watch all matches throughout the week from court-side stands is available for £59, with a number of special hospitality events to also be held at The Shrewsbury Club. Tickets can be purchased here.
