Lichfield Garrick Theatre has unveiled the cast of their upcoming in-house production of The Pocket Dream.

Written by Elly Brewer (The Dumping Ground) and Sandi Toksvig (QI, The Great British Bake Off), this hilarious show takes Shakespeare’s brilliant comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream and wraps it in another comedy about a production that’s going hilariously wrong.

The Pocket Dream will be directed by the theatre’s Artistic Director, Daniel Buckroyd, who saw the original West End production in 1991 and can’t wait to share the fun with Lichfield audiences this spring. Garrick Panto legends Sam Rabone and Ben Thornton return for this production with new kid on the block, Jack and the Beanstalk baddie, Joe Feeney. Completing the cast are Tricia Adele Turner, star of multiple West End musicals, Sarah Twomey who’s performed at the RSC and recently featured in Paddington in Peru, and comedy legend Arthur Bostrom, best known for his iconic role in TV’s ‘Allo ‘Allo.

Daniel Buckroyd, the theatre’s Chief Executive & Artistic Director says:

“At the Garrick Theatre, we love it when we can bring people together to experience the very best live performance and send them away laughing. So, I was absolutely delighted when Sandi & Elly gave us permission to remount The Pocket Dream. It’s one of the funniest nights in the theatre I’ve ever had, combining wall-to-wall comedy, lightning costume changes, audience participation and a flying stage manager! And we’re excited to have such a fantastic cast joining us for the show, with Tricia, Sarah and comedy legend Arthur joining three of the stars of our legendary Garrick Panto.

At the Garrick Theatre it’s also really important to us that we provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents, so we’re thrilled to have assembled a company of incredible, local, young performers to join our company as Puck’s hapless fairy helpers. We can’t wait to give them this experience of being part of a professional production and for you to see them in action when the production comes together this April!”

The Pocket Dream opens on Thursday 24 April 2025, and runs until Saturday 3 May 2025, with a BSL-interpreted performance on Saturday 26 April 2025.
