Drayton Manor Resort has announced the opening date for its highly-anticipated Vikings-themed area - set to propel fun-seekers of all ages back in time to a whole new world of discovery.
The resort, which unveiled plans for the new action-packed themed area last month, has confirmed that Vikings will officially open on Saturday 28th May, transporting guests to a bygone era full of unforgettable adventures inspired by mythical legends and ancient gods.
Guests will be taken on an immersive voyage through Norse history with the rhythmic sound of Viking chants, traditional wooden gates with shields, swords and axes, Viking themed entertainment during peak times as well as the chance to experience a host of exhilarating new rides and attractions for the very first time.
Eager enthusiasts will have the chance to board Loki, the UK’s first Zamperla Nebulaz – a family thrill ride with eight gondolas and four arms, rotating in a fast-intermeshing orbit. Inspired by the malevolent god of mischief, Loki will send its passengers soaring to new heights in a mesmerising experience, with breath-taking views from both the sky and ground.
Also among the eagerly awaited new rides is Thor, a vibrant Disk’O Coaster inspired by the iconic god of thunder, sending those brave enough to board spinning in a giant wheel across Thor’s racing coaster track for the ultimate weightless sensation.
For mini adventurers, the area’s new Sleipnir attraction will take explorers on an exciting journey through a training school on a horseback ride around a circular track, with the legend of the ancient Viking mythical horse teaching them how to become a powerful god.
Guests can refuel at the new Walhalla eatery, inspired by the historic heaven that warriors were said to visit after battle. Feasting in true Viking style, they can tuck into delicious hot food from the sizzling BBQ pit and indulge in tasty pulled pork baps, succulent chicken wings and hearty jacket potatoes from the food outlet.
The resort is also giving families the option to extend the fun overnight, with the chance to enjoy one of 10 brand-new Vikings-themed rooms at the onsite 4-star hotel. Featuring Nordic-inspired furnishings and traditional wooden panelling embellished with shields and paintings of distant Viking voyages.
