With half term right around the corner, we've put together our list of top picks for keeping the kids entertained across the spooky season...


Giant Trick or Treat Board Game - The Potteries Centre, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, 26 - 31 October

Located on Level 5 outside H&M, this life-sized Trick or Treat board game promises fun for visitors of all ages. Participants can roll the dice and navigate the giant board, with each space offering a new challenge and the chance to win exciting prizes.

To take part in the Trick or Treat board game, simply spend £10 during your visit and head to Level 5. On the board you will find retailer spots, where you must answer a variety of quiz questions related to Halloween, The Potteries' stores, general knowledge and more.

You can roll again after each correct answer, and after three successful rounds, players will receive a ‘Trick or Treat Scratch Card’ which could reveal prizes such as gift cards worth up to £50, along with a selection of fun ‘trick or treat’ goodies and prizes.

Guests and ghouls can also find our giant Jack-o’-lantern pumpkin display and Halloween selfie bench, perfect for Halloween photo fun, located on of Level 3.


Halloween at Hockerhill - Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn, Brewood, Staffordshire, 26 - 31 October

Thrills, chills, and plenty of family-friendly fun lie in wait at Hockerhill as it's transformed into a bewitching wonderland.

There will be fang-tastic face-painting, spooky story-telling, creepy craft activities and a fancy dress competition, for which the most chilling children’s outfit will win a free return visit. 

Go on a spooky spider hunt to find letters which will spell out a word and earn successful adventurers a tasty treat - but beware of the mysterious character lurking in the shadows!

Half term Halloween Fun - Boscobel House and The Royal Oak, Stafford, 26 October - 3 November

Families can expect some frightfully good fun at Boscobel House this Halloween, with spooky activities every day during ‘Halloween Half Term’ inside the ruins of the old medieval castle.

In keeping with Boscobel’s centuries-old history, storytellers from the past will be ready to enthral and scare visitors with sinister stories. Little adventurers will be bewitched by the Halloween Quest which will challenge them to solve clues as they explore.

Boscobel will be open every day between 10am and 4pm during half term and all activities are included in the standard admission price.

 Pumpkin Village - National Forest Adventure Farm, Tatenhill, Staffordshire, 5 - 31 October

The National Forest Adventure Farm is launching its biggest pumpkin picking celebration yet as it brings Instagram ready autumn fun with boutique street stalls, festoon lighting, pumpkin towers and acoustic sounds for autumn nights.

The new autumnal event brings decorative stalls, pumpkin houses, street food, entertainers, live music and their largest pumpkin haul yet with up to 500,000 of the fresh squashes in all shapes and sizes to pick in the 30-acre pumpkin patch.

Autumn themed food stalls will be dotted around the village so people can enjoy anything from pumpkin lattes and spiced sweet treats to homemade soups and hot seasonal sandwiches while listening to the acoustic sounds of live singers.

Treats & Chills and Spooks & Slide - SnowDome, Tamworth, 25 October - 3 November

The ice skating and snow fun park areas at Tamworth's SnowDome will undergo a spine- chilling transformation, with two Halloween events: Treats & Chills and Spooks & Slide. 

The Spooks & Slide takeover at the ice rink is suitable for those 8+ years. Venture down into the ice crypt, explore pirate strait, pass through the spider cove and experience the haunted hallway, before you skate and dance until you drop at the ghoul ball.

Meanwhile the Treats and Chills event at the snow fun park is suitable for families and little ones 2+ years. The Wicked Witch of the North has teleported her hut onto the snow and released her black cats throughout. You and your little ones can explore the Witch’s Hut, find all the missing black cats, experience all-new spooky interactions and finish with a devilishly delicious chocolate treat.

Halloween Horrors - Weston Park, nr Shifnal, 29 - 31 October

Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Weston’s Halloween Horrors this October Half Term for a day filled with spooktacular fun.

Watch as the four-acre Walled Garden transforms into a haunted hollow with the return of the popular pumpkin patch and so much more. Enjoy thrilling activities from Educating Kids Outdoors, be amazed by creepy critter shows from Zoolabs, and try to navigate the spooky maze.

Don’t miss the Spooky House, which will be decorated with spooky creations, created by students from Telford College, inspired by chilling tales and things that go bump in the night.

Halloween half term in the Gardens - Trentham Gardens, Stoke-on-Trent, 26 - 31 October

This October half term, Trentham Gardens is the place to be for spooky family-friendly fun.

Marvel at the artistry of professional pumpkin carvers as they create an impressive pumpkin trail featuring nine unique scenes. Bring your camera for the selfie trail; strike a pose in front of trick-or-treat doors, sit on the pumpkin throne, and dodge zombie hands. Little witches and wizards can enroll in Witch and Wizard School, where completing magical tasks earns them a graduation certificate. The day will also feature live performances from delightful children’s groups and an exciting pantomime.

On 26 & 27 October only, visitors can also enjoy Makers Markets within Trentham Gardens. Explore a unique selection of handcrafted treasures, from artisan goods to bespoke creations. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover one-of-a-kind pieces and support talented local makers.

October Half Term 2024: Cold War and Spies - Royal Air Force Museum Midlands, Cosford, 26 October - 3 November

This haf term, the RAF Museum Midlands invites visitors of all ages to embark on a thrilling spy adventure as part of the Cold War Spies Week.

Visitors can explore interactive spy-themed activities, designed to transport them into the covert world of Cold War espionage. Whether you’re solving a murder mystery, boarding a spy plane, or designing your own spy vehicle, there’s something for budding detectives of all ages to enjoy.

October half term - National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire, 28 October - 1 November

The National Memorial Arboretum is hosting a programme of seasonal activities, with interactive outdoor trails, arts and crafts, and lively storytelling sessions, visitors can enjoy a day of creativity and adventure against a stunning backdrop of autumnal colours at the 150-acre free-to-enter garden and woodland estate.

Pick your own pumpkin - Lower Drayton Farm, Penkridge, Stafford, until 31 October

Get spooky season off to a great start with a visit to Lower Drayton Farm's pick your own pumpkin patch.

As one of the largest pumpkin fields in the Midlands, you’ll find your ‘perfect pumpkin’ match. When you’ve picked your pumpkin you can head to the brand new indoor pumpkin carving barn and get creative.

Other activities on site include a spooky tractor ride, vegetable picking, two spooky walks and plenty of photo opportunities.
