New Vic Borderlines are inviting families to join them for their popular Fab Food, Fun and Folktales sessions this summer.

The free events include stories, games and a picnic for members of the community of all ages to enjoy.

It is a chance for children and their families including from incoming communities such as Ukraine and Afghanistan to meet others, have fun, and share traditional stories – many of which are common to all cultures.

New Vic Borderlines Director Sue Moffat said: “As part of our Brighter Horizons project we run holiday activities like Fab Food, Fun and Folktales as a way to build positive relationships and stronger cohesive communities.”

Public sessions take place at the New Vic Theatre from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 August, from 11.00am-12.30pm and 2.00pm-3.30pm each day (2.00pm only on Tuesday 27). Places on these can be booked through Aida Haughton in the New Vic Borderlines team at ahaughton@newvictheatre.org.uk.

There are also Fab Food, Fun and Folktales sessions every Wednesday throughout August at Foxfield Railway in Blythe Bridge from 11.00am to 3.00pm, where booking is not required.

Fab Food, Fun and Folktales sees hundreds of lunches distributed to families in need throughout the school holidays each year. Previous Fab Food, Fun and Folktales projects have included stories inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas, local legends the Kidsgrove Boggart and Molly Leigh, and Red Riding Hood.
