Families can enjoy four outdoor classic performances taking place in Tamworth’s picturesque Castle Grounds this summer.
Oddsocks Productions take classic texts and create bold, challenging innovative and interactive theatre to be enjoyed by all on Saturday 18 June. Much Ado About Nothing, is Shakespeare’s well-known romantic romp that delivers inimitable, hilarious and irreverent style for the summer of 2023.
The performance will take place from 6.30pm and will portray the drama and deception of the play, along with a mix of songs and silliness to create a theatre event you won’t forget.
Join Heartbreak Productions as they cordially invite an audience to this year’s Sense and Sensibility Matchmaker’s Ball on Sunday 16 July. Ladies Elinor and Marianne Dashwood each seek to meet an honourable man of good fortune by whatever means necessary.
This production of Jane Austen’s social satire of the ups and downs of Regency romance takes place from 7pm.
Tethered Wits brings an outdoor production of the beloved story of an extraordinary animal doctor to life using stunning puppetry. Doctor Dolittle takes to the stage on Friday 28 July at 2.30pm for a family fun show about the doctor who can talk to animals, and they can talk back! Suitable for children over the age of three years.
The second production from Tethered Wits will be at 7.30pm on 28 July, as The Great Gatsby entertains an audience over the age of 12, to a 1920s New York story told through the eyes of Nick Carraway. We are introduced to the high-fliers of glitzy Manhattan. However, when Nick meets a certain Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, he realises the parties are not always what they seem.
This performance features the music of Cole Porter and George Gershwin live on stage, so get suited and booted in your best Roaring 20s finery for an unforgettable night.
For all four performances, people are invited to bring their own picnic, chairs and blankets, with refreshments available to purchase from onsite facilities.
Tickets are priced from £12 for adults (£16 for The Great Gatsby) and £10 for under 16s and concessions. A family ticket, for up to four people, is priced at £37.50. Book online at tamworthartsandevents.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01827 709618.
