Tamworth Castle will be spreading the festive cheer this winter with a whole host of Christmas events and activities.

To kick off the festive season on Thursday 28 November, Green Matthews’ Midwinter Revels features Christmas carols, winter folk songs, toe-tapping tunes and a plethora of weird and wonderful instruments, the show is brought to life with Green Matthews’ trademark wit and humour.

On Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December, textile expert, Sarah Baxter will guide a two-hour wreath making workshop, where you can make a beautiful bespoke sustainable textile wreath.

On the same dates, there will be a Christmas themed ‘holly and the ivy’ water colour and folklore workshop. Where you can learn how to paint a Christmas garland and hear about the Christmas traditions and folklore associated with them from around the world and explore the symbolism in many of our yuletide traditions.

If you book both the wreath making and the holly and the ivy workshop you will receive a 10% discount.

Meanwhile on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December, there will be a Christmas by Candlelight event. Have a wander after dark through the enchanted candlelit castle, decorated for Christmas. Finish your visit with festive entertainment from the Christmas carollers in the beautifully lit medieval great hall.

On Saturday 7, Sunday 8, Saturday 14 or Sunday 15 December, the whole family can enjoy the ‘Santa’s Christmas Castle’ experience.

Visitors will tour through the decorated festive castle, looking for clues to lead to Santa. Children will write a letter of wishes and post it through a magic letter box and create their own bespoke Christmas keep sake, and will be presented with a gift from Santa’s helper.
