A search has begun for a West Midlands performer who could play the part of Jean Valjean in a production of the iconic Les Misérables at The Alexandra, Birmingham in June next year.
Do you know someone who has an amazing voice? An untapped talent who would love the chance to perform on a major stage? If so, the theatre want to hear from you!
Les Misérables has been performed professionally across the world, but never before has the show been made available for performance by adult amateur groups. Now, to mark the show's 40th anniversary in 2025, Cameron Mackintosh has released the rights for 11 amateur companies across the UK to present a special version of the show: Les Misérables – Let the People Sing!
Birmingham's BMOS Musical Theatre Company has been chosen as the lead group to produce the show in Birmingham, in collaboration with three other regional theatre companies.
The search is now on to find the right person to play the main character - Jean Valjean. It's a major role appearing throughout the show. The role needs someone aged 35-40s who is a high tenor.
Applicants for the role are asked to go to the BMOS Website: bmosmusicals.org/les-mis-jean-valjean/ to find out more about the audition process and apply.
The show costs for the successful candidate will be covered as part of a sponsorship package for the production.
BMOS Presents Les Misérables – Let the People Sing! shows at The Alexandra Theatre from Tues 10 - Saturday 14 June 2025. Tickets go on sale on Fri 22 November here.
