The Brewhouse Arts Centre has announced the launch of a new youth dance project “Youth Movement”, for young people aged 11-16 years old.

Working alongside the acclaimed Ascension Dance Company, the project aims to provide young people with an opportunity to experience dance, to move and think creatively, and develop social skills such as working in groups to improve self-esteem.

Ascension dance tutors teach fun and supportive workshop’s inspired by parkour, free-running, and breakdance, and are keen to inspire young people to participate in dance, movement and experience performance. They aim to encourage all genders equally by creating a movement vocabulary that is accessible and exciting.

This Easter holidays, the first phase of the Youth Movement programme starts with a three day dance programme on the 11th, 12th and 13th, of April at 10:30am - 3:30pm, and it’s free of charge.

This programme will be followed by regular, ongoing Youth Movement dance sessions at the Brewhouse Arts Centre. All tutors are experienced specialist dance teachers with full DBS, first aid training and insurance.
