The New Vic’s Education Team are inviting young people to join them during the Easter and Summer school holidays, to take part in activities that will transport them to worlds of wonder.

Children aged 5 to 9 years are invited to celebrate the 75th anniversary of CS Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia stories over the Easter holiday. Beyond The Wardrobe offers a two-day workshop exploring the classic children’s story The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe through crafts, games and drama activities. Then in August, Time Travelers’ Adventure will take young people on a journey through the ages during a two-day workshop exploring dinosaurs, medieval castles and to marvel at what the future might hold.

For 10 to 15 year olds, Theatre in Motion invites participants to explore physical theatre and the power of movement in a dynamic one-day physical theatre masterclass on Monday 14 April, whilst the New Vic’s annual Play In A Week returns from Monday 28 July – Friday 1 August. The Time Travelers Playground invites the group to create a play in one week, with this year’s story based around an unforgettable journey through history with the use of a mysterious time machine.

For young people aged 13 to 19, the New Vic open its doors for Backstage Skills – The Hidden Heroes of Theatre. During the weeklong programme, participants will get the chance to experience the backstage world of theatre, working alongside industry professionals to learn essential skills in lighting, sound, design and costume.

New Vic Youth Theatre Director and Education Practitioner Amy Fletcher said: “It's always a pleasure to design and run our holiday projects and I am really excited for 2025! Our masterclass this year will explore storytelling through the world of physical theatre, and I'm thrilled with the addition of the Backstage Skills week that will give a fun insight into the work of our amazing backstage teams and how they create the productions you see on stage. We are thrilled to be celebrating 75 years of The Chronicles of Narnia with our Easter Project for 5 - 9-year-olds and our Summer is going to be full of adventure, exploring different times throughout history with our Play in a Week and two-day project! By the end of the summer, I'll be wishing we had a time machine to go back and do it all again!”

Places for each holiday project are on sale now. For further information and to book a space, visit newvictheatre.org.uk or call the New Vic’s Box Office on 01782 717962.
