The traditional market town of Uttoxeter, which has a population of around 14,000, is situated within the Borough of East Staffordshire. Uttoxeter has thriving weekly outdoor markets held every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday within the Market Place in addition to its indoor Craft and Produce market held monthly on a Saturday within the Town Hall.

Uttoxeter Town Council is made up of sixteen Councillors who are elected to office every four years. Uttoxeter Town Mayor who is appointed annually for a twelve month term, is currently Councillor Alison Trenery.

The Council are responsible for Uttoxeter Cemetery, the grounds of St. Mary's Parish Churchyard, various allotment sites, the War Memorial, Millennium Monument, the Christmas lights, Uttoxeter in Bloom, Uttoxeter Markets, Uttoxeter Town Hall and various town centre events.
