Held in high regard both for their championing of new music and their performances of pieces by legendary composers, the Warwick-based Orchestra of the Swan (OOTS) are no slouches when it comes to compiling truly imaginative programmes of work - and this latest concert is certainly an example of them doing just that...

Taking as their theme the classical elements of air, earth, fire and water, OOTS kickstart proceedings with Jean-Féry Rebel’s Chaos, an unsettling movement from his Les Élémens suite.

The orchestra bring the evening to a close by performing Debussy’s magical triptych, La Mer.

Sandwiched between these two extraordinary works is Manuel de Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance and the first performance of a brand-new commission entitled Air. Composed by pianist David Gordon and jazz saxophonist Tim Whitehead, the piece features students from Warwick Schools Foundation, performing together in a special collaboration.
