Artistic Director Corey Campbell, CEO Laura Elliot, and the whole team at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry are delighted to reveal further details of what’s coming up this autumn, including co-produced work with Paines Plough and Bush Theatre, as well as an eclectic mix of theatre, comedy, family entertainment and music, and the return of the Belgrade’s award-winning pantomime.
Consumed, a Paines Plough, Belgrade Theatre, Sheffield Theatres and Women’s Prize for Playwriting production, tells the story of four generations of Northern Irish women, reunited. A house full of hungry ghosts… and skeletons in the closet. A tale of twisted family dynamics and national boundaries, Consumed was the winner of the Women's Prize for Playwriting in 2022.
Consumed will preview at the Belgrade as part of the See It First programme on Friday 25 - Saturday 26 July, before going to the Edinburgh Festival and then returning to the Belgrade from Wednesday 3 - Saturday 6 September, as part of a UK tour. After Sundaytells the story of Ty, Leroy and Daniel, who are receiving treatment in a medium-secure hospital. Believing in the healing power of food, Naomi invites them to join a Caribbean cooking group. Each Sunday, as the hospital is transformed with the smells, tastes and memories of home, Naomi reckons with whether it’s possible to create a refuge for three men living inside the system.
This brand-new co-production with the Bush Theatre written by Sophia Griffin and directed by Belgrade Theatre Artistic Director Corey Campbell will premiere in Coventry between Friday 10 – Saturday 25 October.

As part of its national tour, the brand-new Marlowe Theatre production of The Party Girls,written by Amy Rosenthal and directed by Richard Beecham will play at the Belgrade between Tuesday 9 - Saturday 13 September.
This new play explores the true story of a family riven by political extremism, seen through the eyes of Jessica Mitford as she battles to stay true to her beliefs, whilst moving further and further from the values of her once-beloved sisters

Troubled is an explosive tale of love, loss and human connection – told with tea and biscuits on Wednesday 10 September. This 60-minute solo performance blends storytelling, projection, and audience interaction to reckon with the past and offer us hope for the future.

Frantic Assembly - who are celebrating their 30th anniversary - and co-producers Curve, MAST Mayflower Studios and Lyric Hammersmith will present, Lost Atoms written by Anna Jordan touring to Coventry from Tuesday 21 – Saturday 25 October.
Lost Atoms tells the story of a relationship: an extraordinary, transformative love.
Or is that only in hindsight? Perhaps it was just typical? Or toxic? Or doomed from the start?
One thing’s for sure: It changed their lives. Two people plunge deep into their shared pasts and propel themselves into multiple imagined futures.
Dance and opera fans can enjoy the return of Imperial Ballet, bringingSwan Lake (Wednesday 8 October) and The Nutcracker(Thursday 9 October); visiting the Belgrade for the first time will be English Touring Opera who are bringing two of their shows with Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia(Friday 10 October) and Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love(Saturday 11 October), both performed in English with English surtitles. Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Blackwill also come to Coventry for the first time with SHADOWS, a double-bill featuring a darkly comic adaptation of Oyinkan Braithwaite’s My Sister, The Serial Killer followed by Chanel Da Silva making her British choreographic debut exploring the intense practice of shadow work and how it can reveal our true selves (Tuesday 4 November).
Plenty for children and families this season too, including LASTheatre’s The Littlest Yak, an adaptation of the award-winning children’s book that will delight audiences young and old with beautiful puppets, catchy tunes and an uplifting tale of self-acceptance (Friday 30 October); Grandad Anansi, an uplifting tale of love, courage and letting go that celebrates storytelling and shines a light on Jamaican culture and the Windrush generation (Saturday 31 October); Just in time for Christmas With daring acrobatics, integrated sign language and heartwarming humour Well Done, Mummy Penguin (Wednesday 3 December – Saturday 3 January) is the perfect wintery treat for everyone aged 3 and up.
For music and entertainment fans, a series of tribute nights will come to the Belgrade over the coming months with Big Girl’s Don’t Cry (Friday 5 October) showcasing music from Jersey Boys; bringing a selection of Queen’s greatest hits is The Best of Queen(Wednesday 1 October); returning to Coventry are both the George Michael and Meatloaf tributes Fastlove(Thursday 18 September)and Anything For Love(Wednesday 5 November). Comedian, broadcaster, campaigner (and tiny Danish beacon of hope) Sandi Toksvig will bring her Friends of Dorothy tour to the Belgrade on Monday 27 October for an evening celebrating her love and passion for writers and books; Direct from the West End and following on from their Las Vegas debut Queenzare bringing their Drag-stavaganza to the stageas part of their Drag Me To The Disco tour(Wednesday 4 February – Thursday 5 February).
