Artistic Director Corey Campbell, CEO Laura Elliot, and the whole team at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry are delighted to reveal details of their forthcoming spring and summer family shows.

The firm favourite Room on the Broom, from the best-selling picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, is a fun-filled adaptation for ages 3 and up and is playing from Wednesday 23 till Saturday 26 April. Little ones will love this magical Olivier Award-nominated story of the witch and her cat, and their fellow travellers as they journey on their magical broom.

HurlyBurly Theatre’s You Are The Sun is a folk inspired opera for babies and grown ups that explores the magic of nature. Combining the joy of gentle classical singing and sensory play, it is an invitation to see beauty in the smallest things and to let plants be our guides. This magical adventure for 0-2 year olds plays at the Belgrade on Thursday 29 May.

An Ant Called Amy is the charming story of an award-winning and hard-working ant, her brother Andy, and a Brown Spider. Amy learns to find true happiness by appreciating the world around her, celebrating her brother’s memory, and slowing down. Playing on Friday 30 May till Saturday 31 May, this delightful family production is aimed at 5-9 year olds.

Fans of the Elmer books will be enchanted by The Elmer Adventure, playing from Thursday 5 till Saturday 7 June. The colourful world of Elmer is brought to life through songs, storytelling and puppetry by Tall Stories, the company who brought The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom to the stage and is for everyone aged 3 and up.

The Vanishing Elephant is presented in association with Buxton Opera House, playing from Wednesday 18 to Saturday 21 June at the Belgrade. Aimed at age 8+, this is the moving story of friendship, belonging, and an incredible journey of a boy and an elephant from Bengal to the bright lights of Broadway. The Vanishing Elephant was named a Critics Pick in the New York Times, hailing it an ‘alluring spectacle.’

The Koala Who Could is based on the award-winning book by Rachel Bright & Jim Field. This brand-new adaptation for stage is directed by Emma Earle (Oi Frog & Friends!), with music and lyrics by Eamonn O’Dwyer (The Lion Inside).  Recommended for ages 2+, this is an empowering and chuckle-out-loud story about embracing change - whether we like it or not! This production runs from Thursday 24 - Saturday 26 July.

Both An Ant Called Amy and The Vanishing Elephant productions are supported by Culture Ireland.
