The 2024/25 Leamington Music Winter Season continues this month with concerts from The Choir of Clare College, Cambridge in St Mary’s Church, Warwick on Tuesday 10 December at 7.30pm, and harpist Harriet Adie in the Leamington Museum & Art Gallery in the Royal Pump Rooms on Tuesday 10 December at 6.30pm.

Audience favourites The Choir of Clare College, Cambridge return to give their fifth concert for Leamington Music - this time with Bethlehem Star, a sumptuous festive programme of carols and motets including choral works by Rheinberger, Arvo Pärt, Reena Esmail, James Whitbourn, Cecilia MacDowall, Jonathan Dove, and Christmas’s favourite choral composer, Clare College alumnus John Rutter. Tickets include Leamington Music’s Christmas signature of mulled wine and mince pies served in the interval, and the audience are invited to look ‘Behind the Music’ too with a free pre-concert talk at 6.45pm.

Next, escape the Festive madness for an hour of beautiful Christmas music in tranquil surroundings, joining critically acclaimed harpist Harriet Adie for a programme of carols from her own collection of arrangements including Silent Night, Joy to the World, In Dulce Jubilo, and The Holly and the Ivy alongside festive music by Britten and Hasselmans. As BBC Music Magazine described it, “The intimate performance is warm and colourful, creating a charming atmosphere of peace and joy”. The Leamington Music Winter Season runs until mid-March and has twenty-one events in all, having begun in September with an exhilarating six concerts from the Brodsky Quartet of all fifteen Quartets by Shostakovich. They continue with bi-monthly concerts of string quartets, early music, choral music, Indian Carnatic music, and a special Family Concert; the season also features along the way works by black composers, women composers, and living composers for some new discoveries alongside familiar favourites to ensure there is something for everyone.
