With the end of the summer looming and a new school term on the horizon, we've selected some of the top events and activities to enjoy this forthcoming bank holiday weekend.

COSTA DEL SOLIHULL | TOUCHWOOD | UNTIL 3 SEPTEMBER

Local guests visiting Touchwood Solihull will once again have the opportunity to soak in the ‘vitamin sea’ at Theatre Square’s tropical paradise.

Whether you want to embrace your competitive spirit in a series of games or simply build some mer-tastic sandcastles and enjoy the music, guests will be treated with endless entertainment this bank holiday.

MACBETH | ROYAL SHAKESPEARE THEATRE | UNTIL 14 OCTOBER

Brutal actions have brutal consequences. The political and natural world is broken and the Macbeths seize this opportunity to rise through the ranks and control their destiny. But their ambitions unravel into a living nightmare in a world where boundaries are paper thin - between the natural and supernatural, love and hate, joy and despair.

Award-winning director Wils Wilson directs Reuben Joseph, straight from London’s West End as the title role of the multi award-winning musical Hamilton, and Valene Kane as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in this gripping, terrifying tale of our times.

MORAG MYERSCOUGH | COMPTON VERNEY | UNTIL 27 OCTOBER

Internationally-acclaimed artist Morag Myerscough has created two site-specific installations as part of Compton Verney's Summer of Colour.

The colourful installation is in the Old Town Meadow, disrupting and drawing attention to the landscape.

Morag is a London based artist, famous for her ability to create a sense of joy and belonging.  Overwhelming places with colour and sound, the exhibition is an engaging experience for everyone, regardless of geographic and cultural boundaries.  The colours and patterns change the environment and create a new identity in this re-imagined space.

The August bank holiday will see the museums' grounds filled with an eclectic mix of vehicles, classic, retro, modified and, of course, shed-built – with an awards ceremony, music, live dyno runs and more.

Any car is welcome to display at the event. If you feel that your car is Shedfest-worthy, then make sure it’s sparkling. If you think others will be interested in your classic, retro, modified or shed car - then why not be part of the show.

As well as enjoying the event, your tickets give you access to the British Motor Museum’s vast collection of cars, across two Museum buildings.

THE SNAIL AND THE WHALE | ALBANY THEATRE | 28-29 AUGUST

Following on from versions of The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom, highly rated ensemble Tall Stories here present a show for children aged four and older that blends imaginative storytelling, live music and plenty of humour.

When a tiny snail who longs to see the world hitches a lift on the tail of a humpback whale, she finds herself embroiled in an exciting adventure - particularly when the whale unexpectedly gets beached...
The show runs without an interval and for just short of an hour.
