Independent theatre studio China Plate has teamed up with Coventry’s Warwick Arts Centre (WAC) and the city’s Shoot Festival to present a new edition of one-day event Bite Size.
Taking place at WAC on 30 April, the festival offers ‘a jam-packed taster menu of new theatre from the Midlands’.
Short excerpts of new work, full-length shows and exclusive previews of pieces still in development all feature. These are divided into Sessions, the first of which is a double-bill of family friendly shows in the Helen Martin Studio at 10.45am. Comprising Crow's Nest's Is That A Yeti, Hetty? - a live-illustrated storytelling show, and Fishhouse Theatre and Upstairs at the Western's Roti Moon, described as a 'fun, interactive show for children aged up to age 8', the performance lasts 1 hour 15 mins in total.
Sessions 2 to 4 offer samples of new work, full-length shows and exclusive previews of pieces still in development. All are presented by home-grown artists working across the region - from critically acclaimed, award-winning companies to fresh faced, emerging theatre-makers.
Finally, Session 5, Dead Cats, blends new writing, performance, film-making, to show - not tell - the truths behind the fictions.
