Local musician Ellie Gowers has been making waves on the UK folk circuit for the last couple of years, earning positive notices from a range of sources - bizarrely including Zoe Ball - a session for BBC Radio 2 and commission to write the music for a BBC Radio 3 production of Middlemarch.

The singer-songwriter doesn’t appear to be letting the fame and acclaim go to her head, although it looks like horizons are being expanded. Songs on her 2022 debut album Dwelling By The Weir explored the folklore of her hometown of Warwick - the LP’s title was inspired by the wild swimming she enjoyed by the town’s Saxon Mill during lockdown - but she appears to be opening up her heart as well as musical palette on latest release You, The Passenger.

Songs on the six-track EP, which is being launched at the Tin show, show a more personal and emotional side - Ellie claims the title track features “a culmination of thoughts that were bottled up tight” - but if lovely opener A Moment is anything to go by, it’s set to have universal appeal. She might not be playing these size venues for long.
