Veterans are being urged to come forward and have special badges and medals presented by the Mayor of Dudley at this year’s Armed Forces Day event.

The free event, run by Dudley Council and supported SWG Construction, Pegasus and SF Harrison Roofing is on Sunday 30 June in the grounds of Himley Hall and Park.

It will run from 11am to 4pm and includes military displays, free vintage dance taster lessons from All About Swing, a craft and vintage fair, vintage tea tent and much more.

One of the highlights of the day will be when the Mayor of Dudley presents former and current armed forces personnel with their HM Armed Forces Badges.

People are being urged to come forward to register their interest to be presented with their badge, so they can be added to the running order for the day. They can apply online at gov.uk/apply-medal-or.../apply-for-a-medal or by calling 0800 085 3600.

If you have recently left the armed forces you do not need to apply, veterans badges are now sent out automatically and should be received within two months.

Veterans need to have applied for and received their badge before contacting Dudley Council in order to have them presented on the day.

Anyone who has already received one of the badges but has not had it formally presented to them before can contact Dudley Council by emailing capa.admin@dudley.gov.uk or by calling 01384 818186 to participate in the ceremony.
