With half term right around the corner, we've put together our list of top picks for keeping the kids entertained across the spooky season...


Wolverhampton Monsters - Wolverhampton City Centre, 25 October - 3 November

Giant glowing monsters will be invading Wolverhampton city centre this half term break.

Wolverhampton Monsters is a family-friendly, free trail from 25 October to 3 November, made up of five inflatable, cartoon-like monsters that will be situated across the city-centre, peeking over buildings and around corners.

Wolverhampton Train Station will also join the fun with monster-themed windows, and city centre streets will have monster-themed floor stickers.

The trail is designed to provide a free and enjoyable activity suitable for all ages and drive footfall into the centre.  


Spooky Halloween Banquet - Newhampton Arts Centre, Wolverhampton, 31 October

Get ready for a frightfully fun Halloween experience at Newhampton Arts Centre's SNAC café!

The café will be transformed into a haunted dining hall, where you can sink your teeth into some spooky treats including witches’ fingers on brioche, a gruesome dessert platter and a refreshing witches’ brew.

As well as the devilishly good food, children will also get to make their very own Halloween lanterns, plus other fun craft activities throughout the event. Little ghouls and goblins are encouraged to dress up for the occasion.

Spooky Shadows Halloween Arts & Crafts Workshop - Wolverhampton Art Gallery, 31 October

Suitable for children aged 5 - 16, join this interactive family activity where participants create eerie silhouette artworks inspired by classic Halloween motifs.

This workshop combines elements of shadow play, paper cutting, and mixed media to produce striking, atmospheric 3D pieces.

Halloween Experience - Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Cosford Airbase & Headquarters, Shropshire, 27 October

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is set to deliver a day of spooktacular fun with their Halloween Experience at its Cosford Airbase and Headquarters.

This family friendly event features a variety of Halloween themed activities designed to engage visitors of all ages. Children are encouraged to come in costume and will receive Halloween themed goody bags. Throughout the day, families can take part in a Trick-or-Treat Hunt, meet Maac the Pup, the charity’s mascot, and enjoy interactive games.

All proceeds from the event go towards funding Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s advanced pre-hospital emergency service, helping to save lives across the region.

Halloween Horrors - Weston Park, nr Shifnal, 29 - 31 October

Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Weston’s Halloween Horrors this October Half Term for a day filled with spooktacular fun.

Watch as the four-acre Walled Garden transforms into a haunted hollow with the return of the popular pumpkin patch and so much more. Enjoy thrilling activities from Educating Kids Outdoors, be amazed by creepy critter shows from Zoolabs, and try to navigate the spooky maze.

Don’t miss the Spooky House, which will be decorated with spooky creations, created by students from Telford College, inspired by chilling tales and things that go bump in the night.

October Half Term 2024: Cold War and Spies - Royal Air Force Museum Midlands, Cosford, 26 October - 3 November

This haf term, the RAF Museum Midlands invites visitors of all ages to embark on a thrilling spy adventure as part of the Cold War Spies Week.

Visitors can explore interactive spy-themed activities, designed to transport them into the covert world of Cold War espionage. Whether you’re solving a murder mystery, boarding a spy plane, or designing your own spy vehicle, there’s something for budding detectives of all ages to enjoy.

Gandey's Halloween Spooktacular - Merry Hill, Brierley Hill, 23 October - 3 November

A very special (trick or) treat for Halloween, Gandeys Circus returns once again with a brand-new action packed legendary Halloween Spooktacular Big Top Show for all the family.

A specially selected international cast of skeletons, vampires, Jack o’lanterns and not forgetting Circus Artistes, have been brought together for this year’s sensational extravaganza.

Hagley's Haunted House & PYO Pumpkin Trail - Webbs West Hagley, 19 - 31 October

Dare to enter Hagley's Haunted House and encounter the restless spirits of the area's dark past!

Explore the overgrown graveyard filled with eerie shadows and mysterious fog. But beware as the skeleton-pirate crew that once worked the Stourbridge canal keep a watchful eye over their shiny gold coins and sparkling jewels. Can you sneak past without getting caught, or will you join their ranks as a ghostly pirate forever?

Finally, choose your own pumpkin from the grounds of The Haunted House, carve it and take it home to scare away the Ghouls of Halloween.

Severn Valley Railway Ghost & Scream Trains - Severn Valley Railway, Worcestershire, 26, 30 - 31 October

Are you brave enough to ride the Ghost Train at Severn Valley Railway this Halloween?

Kickstart your fright night with tricks and treats for the whole family to enjoy at Kidderminster Station; then take your reserved seats and settle back to experience a ride out into the darkness. 

Scary characters will join you on board, sneaking along the corridors of the train as it passes through haunted stations to Arley. The Ghost Train experience lasts for approximately 75 minutes and comes complete with a free goodie bag for every child.  

Severn Valley Railway is also hosting a similar but ‘more fearsome’ event for older guests. The Scream Train is aimed at visitors aged 18-plus and features ‘petrifying ghouls’ who will be looking to scare the life out of commuters as they make their way to Arley.

Coco screening & Halloween Disco - Millennium Point, Birmingham, 26 October

Enjoy Disney’s Coco on our giant screen with a spooktacular children’s disco at Millennium Point

A DJ will be spinning the best pop hits and spooky tunes for littles one to dance along to. And as they bust their moves, grown-ups can relax in our adjoining bar area with a drink. There will also be a colouring in stations, dance competitions and prizes for the best-dressed.

Then it will be time to experience Coco as never before - on Birmingham’s biggest screen! The enchanting Disney Pixar film follows aspiring musician Miguel, alongside charming trickster Hector, on an extraordinary journey through the Land of the Dead to find his musical hero.

Spooky Cinema - Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum, 31 October - 2 November

From 31 October - 2 November there will be a thrilling line-up of film screenings in Thinktank's planetarium, perfect for both adults and families to enjoy.

The NeverEnding Story, Blade Runner: Final Cut, Ghostbusters, The Thing, E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Pink Floyd: The Wall make up the line up of classics.
