Wolverhampton's Newhampton Arts Centre is pioneering a unique approach to theatre this season with their "Pay What You Can" initiative, inviting audiences to choose a ticket price that suits them, making theatre accessible to all.

This initiative is generously supported by Black Country Touring, reinforcing their commitment to promoting inclusive arts in the community.

Kicking off the season is an enchanting family theatre production of Thumbelina, on Tuesday 31 October. Dive into a world of miniature wonders as Thumbelina navigates her way through challenges, seeking her place in the vast world. With live music, dance, and song, this performance promises to be a delightful experience for children aged 3-8 and their families. Directed by Rachel Dean, the show has garnered praise for its gentle and playful nature, with audience feedback highlighting its beauty and interactive elements.

Following Thumbelina, the stage will be set for Model Village on Wednesday 1 November. This comedy, marking New Perspectives' 50th anniversary, takes you to an idyllic 1930s English model village. But all is not as serene as it seems. As the miniature village faces decline, model-makers Bob, Holly, and the radical urban artist, Cutler, join forces to rejuvenate the attraction. However, when the miniature villagers rebel, it's up to the model-makers and the residents to find common ground. This satirical play promises to be both playful and subversive, challenging perceptions of reality.

Trevelyan Wright, CEO of Newhampton Arts Centre, shared, "We’re really excited to be able to offer, thanks to support from Black Country Touring, the chance for audiences to enjoy two great pieces of theatre for adult and family audiences without worrying about the cost of the ticket. You can always donate to BCT and NAC after the shows, but we welcome all to pay what they feel they can afford and take a chance on live theatre."

There are three tiers of ticket prices to choose from at £3, £6 and £10 or you can even enter your own. To be part of this innovative theatre season and immerse yourself in captivating tales, book your tickets at newhamptonarts.co.uk.
