Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu will appear at a charity dance show in Dudley this May.

Following their highly successful tour, Amy and Carlos are reuniting to perform five of their tour dances with the support from local dance groups at Dudley Town Hall on Thursday 22nd May.

The show will be hosted by Britain's Got Talent finalist Steve Hewlett, with support from Art in Motion Dance Academy, Loyd Griffiths, Bailey Ariyah School of Dance, Sorella Academy of Dance and MHSOD. All profits will go to the CoppaFeel charity.

Born in Caerphilly, Amy’s dancing journey started at age 8 when she entered a campsite competition and hasn’t looked back since. She was the 2017 British National Latin Dance Champion and remains one of the highest ranking ballroom and Latin professional dancers in the UK. Amy is also a four time British National finalist and in 2015 she reached the semi final of the World Championship.

Amy joined Strictly in 2017 and made history by becoming the first ever Welsh professional to enter the Strictly ballroom. Amy’s celebrity partners have included Brian Conley, Karim Zeroual with whom she reached the final, J. J. Chalmers, James Bye and Tom Fletcher.

Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and following successful treatment has returned to the new series of Strictly where she has been partnered with JLS’s J.B. Gill. Prior to this charity show, Amy will undertake a national tour with fellow Strictly pro dancer Carlos Gu. Her autobiography Dancing in the Rain has recently been released.

Amy was awarded an MBE in the 2024 Birthday Honours for services to fundraising and raising awareness of Crohn’s disease from which she suffers. She is a passionate supporter of CoppaFeel.

Carlos Gu was born in Taiyuan China and is a Chinese National Champion. He joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 and was paired with Eastenders Molly Rainsford with whom he reached the final finishing as the runner up. In the following series he was partnered with Angela Scanlon. He has also performed on the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour.
