The Black Country Living Museum will be hosting a new 1940s event, Back Home, this July.

Back Home will focus on the fascinating stories of life in the Black Country and the region during the 1940s and recognise the resilience of those who came together during this pivotal period of British history. The event will be taking place on the 9th and 10th July, including a special evening event on the Saturday.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore aspects of civilian life in the region during the 1940s. They will discover how the people of this region came together against difficult odds to support the War effort and have a chance to meet famous characters including Winston Churchill and George Formby. Plus, the D-Day Darlings will be making a welcome return to the Museum with headline acts at both the daytime and evening events.

Director of Programmes Carol King said: “We’re looking forward to sharing even more of the stories of this important time in Black Country and wider British history. There will be so many aspects of life from this period to rediscover, including the fearless contributions of ARP wardens, the resourcefulness of those at home, and the vital contribution of the home guard.”

Tickets for the evening event will go on sale to BCLM Members from 12noon on Wednesday 11 May, and to the general public from 12noon on Wednesday 18 May. Tickets for the daytime event will go on sale in June. Find out more at bclm.com.
