A wide range of activities for the over 60s are now available at Wolverhampton's WV Active leisure centres.

They include swimming, bowls, short tennis, table tennis and racket sports. There is also a 60+ session gym at the Home Straight gym at WV Active Aldersley on Thursdays from 9.30am to 11am.

WV Active offers a concessionary membership rate of just £11.50 per month for anyone aged 60 and over, offering unlimited access to its 3 sites - WV Active Aldersley, WV Active Bilston-Bert Williams and WV Active Central. There is also a pay as you go option of £3.50 per session.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the council's Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "Regular physical activity is one of the most important things older people can do to help maintain and improve their health and wellbeing.

"It can help and manage many of the health problems that often come with age, including reducing the risk of falls through improving strength and balance, enhancing cognitive function, and boosting mood.

"We are delighted to be able to offer an extensive programme of activities for the over 60s at WV Active and I would encourage people to find out more and sign up today."
