There's a whole host of fun coming up at Worcester Cathedral this summer, from family tours to exhibitions, there's something for everyone.

Throughout August, the cathedral will host a summer art exhibition entitled ‘Art in Sacred Spaces’. The exhibition will showcase the work of 11 professional visual artists, three local schools and a community art installation, totalling over 50 pieces of wonderful art around the cathedral. There will be a diverse range of media on show including textiles, glass, sculpture, paintings and fashion design.

On 1 and 8 August, there will be a Family Picnic & Play in the West Gardens, where visitors can enjoy playing with giant outdoor games in the beautiful surroundings. On the same dates, Wilfred the Monk will host Family Tours, taking families on a journey through the history of the Cathedral with stories and activities as you explore.

The cathedral's cloister will host a Summer Craft & Gift Fayre on 12 August, where you can browse over 20 quality craft and gift stalls.

From 12 until 28 August, there will be a rare opportunity to see Christ in Majesty - the 13th Century scuplture which is rarely seen and about which so much is not understood. Filling nearly an entire wall of College Hall this sculpture was destroyed during the reformation but has recently been conserved.

The Buzz on 14 August is a family-friendly event all about bees, where you can find out what you can do to help them thrive in your gardens and have a go at creating bee bombs, bee baths and other bee-related activities.

From Pisanello to Hockney; from Shakespeare to McQueen; learn how fashions have reflected the zeitgeist of the age and have helped us to portray who we are, as Anne Walter holds an illustrated talk, 'The History of Fashion Talk' on 15 August. There will also be a '100 Years of Fashion - Fashion Show' in the Chapter House, showcasing ladies fashions from the 1880s to the 1980s.

Meanwhile a series of family visual arts drop-in workshops will take place throughout the month, each with its own theme, including The Hands of God (15 Aug), Pop Goes The Cathedral (16 Aug), The Feast (22 Aug) and Make an Impressionism (23 Aug).

Worcester Cathedral’s Medieval Library has over 2000 books, manuscripts and artifacts some over 1000 years old. On 16 and 25 August, the cathedral's librarian and archivist will reveal some of it’s hidden treasures in special library tours.
