Cult rum brand, Old J Spiced Rum is hosting the UK’s first Coconut Shy Championship this summer, and it’s coming to Kidderminster. 

Created in celebration of its latest flavour launch - Old J Coconut - Old J’s Coconut Shy Championship will see hospitality venues and members of the public competing against each other, nationally, to be in with a chance of winning a whole host of enticing prizes. 

Taking place at The Chester Tavern on the 6th July, during its Gin & Rum Festival, Kidderminster locals are invited to head down to the venue and take their best shot from 1pm onwards. With six coconuts to knock down in the shortest amount of time possible, only the fastest (successful) throwers will have their scores recorded and put forward to the national winner’s scoreboard. 

If putting Kidderminster’s name on the national Coconut Shy map wasn’t enough, there will also be the opportunity to be one of the first people to sample Old J Coconut before it officially launches, enjoy coconut-infused cocktails, and have a fun afternoon out it in the Kidderminster sun… 

Wayne Barber, Landlord at The Chester Tavern commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with Old J to host the first National Coconut Shy Championships, right here in Kidderminster. Although we are yet to see much of the sun, it will be the perfect way to kick start summer in our spacious beer garden – taking place alongside our Gin & Rum Festival - and hopefully, Kidderminster will be home to the overall Coconut Shy Champion!”

Old J Coconut will be the seventh variant in the Old J Spiced Rum range, joining the original Old J Spiced, Old J Cherry, Old J Pineapple, Old J Dark, Old J Gold and the infamous Old J Tiki Fire.  

Old J Coconut will be available to purchase across UK hospitality venues and online from July.
