Kidderminster is a large town and civil parish in the Wyre Forest district of Worcestershire. It is located approximately 17 miles south-west of Birmingham city centre and approximately 15 miles north of Worcester city centre.
The town is best known for its manufacture of carpets from about 1735, though this has been much reduced recently. The carpet industry developed as a diversification within a well established cloth industry. The earliest written form of the name Kidderminster is in Domesday Book of 1086 when it was called Chideminstre.
