Theatre Severn has once again teamed up with Shrewsbury Castle to produce a programme of open-air theatre over the summer.
Audiences can expect Shakespeare classics, Princess picnics, family favourites and more when some of the UK's most renowned outdoor theatre companies come to town in July and August.
Shrewsbury Castle provides the perfect setting for audiences to be entertained by a wonderful line-up of live performances.
Once Upon a Party kicks off the outdoor programme on Sunday 23 July with Princess Picnic in the Castle. Children are invited to join Princess Beauty, The Snow Queen and The Tower Princess for songs, dances, and plenty of photo opportunities.
The Three Inch Fools return to the venue on Thursday 27 July with a staging of legendary folktale Robin Hood. Expect plenty of music, comedy and many a quick costume change in a summer production fit for all the family.
On Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 August, The Lord Chamberlain's Men invite you to join them for an all-male performance of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, complete with music and dance.
Immersion Theatre are back with a brand-new adaptation of The Wizard of Oz (Thursday 10 August) and Twelfth Night (Sunday 13 August). Participation and dazzling costumes are promised with The Wizard of Oz, whilst audiences can expect laughs aplenty with Shakespeare’s riotous comedy.
On Thursday 17 August Quantum Theatre perform Kenneth Grahame’s family favourite The Wind in the Willows. Join Mole, Ratty and Badger on their mad-cap adventures in a heart-warming tale of friendship, mishap, and mayhem.
Rounding off the summer programme, founder member of Fairport Convention Iain Matthews will perform a special open-air gig on Sunday 20 August. Performing songs from across his career, Iain is sure to enthral fans of contemporary singer/songwriter and folk styles.
Don't forget to take along blankets and chairs and maybe a picnic for some alfresco dining.
