This year marks the 1,100th anniversary of the ascension of Athelstan, King of Mercia, who is considered by many historians to be the first King of England.

To mark the occasion, Tamworth Castle and St Editha’s Church is hosting a nine-day festival. Attractions include Anglo Saxon living history, community archaeology and art, live music, and numerous talks, lectures and demonstrations.
