Staffordshire's The Tawny Hotel has launched two brand new foodie experiences for guests and locals to enjoy outdoors this summer.
Perfect for celebrating the arrival of summer, The Tawny has launched an Alfresco Afternoon Tea*, hosted in one of their largest garden follies in the grounds, and recently re-opened to guests – The Arbour.
The open-sided folly is beautifully situated with spectacular views over the Laund Pool and across 70 acres of rewilded gardens and woodland in the Staffordshire countryside. Built in the 1960’s by William Podmore – who spent over half a century transforming a former colliery site into the now rewilded Tawny estate – The Arbour is said to be the former outdoor artist’s space for Mr Podmore.
Available for 6-20 guests, the afternoon tea offers a selection of classic sandwiches and miniature pastries, lovingly created by Michelin and Rosette trained Head Chef, Andrew Watts. Choose from fruit scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam; a passionfruit macaron or chocolate and cherry terrine. To drink, there’s an unlimited selection of hot drinks, from specialist coffees to loose-leaf teas, or a glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne for special occasions.
In collaboration with the famous Staffordshire-based pottery brand, The Tawny have launched an Emma Bridgewater Picnic Hamper**, filled to the brim with delicious sandwiches, cakes and pastries, beautifully served on classic Polka Dot pottery.
Guests can collect their hamper and explore the rewilded 70-acre estate, scattered with lakes, wild woodlands, 26 follies and an orchard, and settle in for an indulgent afternoon with champagne. The Tawny is a haven for wildlife and nature – so grab complimentary binoculars from reception and keep an eye out for all types of wildlife, while feasting on cucumber, egg & cress and smoked salmon sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream or a chocolate & cherry terrine and passionfruit macarons.
Guests of the hotel can take their Emma Bridgewater experience even further and enjoy the ultimate day out to the factory for a tour, decorating studio session and either a sumptuous breakfast or indulgent afternoon tea. Plus, there’s a shopping discount to spend in the gift shop, so guests can have a little something to remember the trip by.
