In the late 1980s, guitarist Martin Simpson waved a fond farewell to his successful career on the British folk circuit to start a new life in the States, where he improved his blues technique and worked with some famous names... Now back home on this side of the Atlantic, the 71-year-old Scunthorpe-born virtuoso guitarist - well known for his work alongside the likes of June Tabor, Steeleye Span, The Albion Band and Richard Thompson - has been nominated for a BBC Radio Two Folk Award on a record-busting 30-plus occasions.
