The Cheltenham Festival will return to Cheltenham Racecourse from Tuesday 14 - Friday 17 March.
Featuring 14 Grade One races across four days, the festival sees the best horses, trainers and jockeys go head to head, as top-class action is expected across the festival. There is something for everyone, with off the track entertainment throughout.
On day one of the festival, Champion Day on Tuesday 14th, reigning and future champions will unite, all eager to carve their name into the star-studded wall of jump racing greats. The Unibet Champion Hurdle, the most prestigious hurdle race in the calendar, will also feature on the day.
Celebrate the return of the Jump Racings greatest Festival, where reigning and future Champions unite, all eager to carve their name into the star-studded wall of Jump Racing Greats. Are you ready for the Cheltenham Roar?
Day two, Festival Wednesday, will see the Grade One Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase offer a speed test like no other. Run over a distance of two miles, it requires a perfect blend of speed and an ability to be inch-perfect when negotiating each of the 13 fences on Cheltenham’s Old Course. Famous multiple winners of the trophy include legends of the sport like Altior, Sprinter Sacre, Master Minded, Moscow Flyer and Viking Flagship.
Meanwhile St Patrick's Thursday will host the Prestbury Cup, the annual competition between British and Irish-trained runners. Along with the atmosphere, Thursday’s card is special in that it is the only one across the four days to feature two ‘Championship’ races, the Ryanair Chase and the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle, with the Grade One contests held back to back.
Finally day four, Gold Cup Day on Friday 17th, features the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup. The pinnacle of the entire Jump season, the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup is the highlight of the festival and brings the best of the best together.
Victory in the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup will guarantee the winner space on back pages around the world, though this year’s race had more reach than ever, with Rachael Blackmore creating history by becoming the first female jockey to win the race on board the Henry de Bromhead-trained A Plus Tard and rewritten the history books.
